Assistant Pastor, Overflow Youth Ministry, Sound & Tech

Chuck Stauss

In life you have those defining moments – the ones that mark a “before” and “after” that moment occurred. By the time I was 13, I’d had two of those moments. The first was when my dad passed away; I was 12 years old. The next was after my aunt and uncle brought me to California because I was getting into trouble at home in Milwaukee. They took me to Hume Lake Christian Camp and that summer I said, “Yes!” to Jesus at the age of 13!

I think it was that experience as a junior high kid, losing my dad and finding my Heavenly Father, that led me to minister to teens with Youth for Christ/Campus Life in my 20’s. Through that ministry, I met my wife, Leanne, and we got married in 1998, after years of friendship. We moved from California to the Carolinas in 2010 and have a grown son, Ronnie (Rex).

I work full-time in sales for a local company that specializes in industrial pumps, valves, instrumentation, and blowers. I am grateful to God for His provision – and so grateful He called me to church ministry at a time in my life when it was completely unexpected.

I love our church family and am blessed to lead Overflow, our youth ministry for 6th – 12th graders, as well as lead our Sound & Tech team to keep things running each Sunday. We have a great ministry team at Calvary Chapel Fort Mill, and a church body that loves and serves well.

Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary. they will walk and not be faint.” Isaiah 40:30-31
