When I was 19, I left the coast of Northern California to move inland and attend college at California State University Sacramento – begrudgingly. But God was placing me right where I needed to be!
That year I came to Christ through a campus ministry fellowship. It was a battle to get my heart to surrender to God. I was raised going to church, so I thought that made me a Christian. There was a feeling of pride in my church-going and I didn’t want to admit I was missing a piece to the puzzle – THE biggest piece! I am so grateful He relentlessly pursued me!
I began to see God moving in my life and He led me to volunteer for the ministry of Youth for Christ, sharing the Gospel with middle and high school students. Through that ministry I met my husband, Chuck, who was also a volunteer. I’m not sure if it was his mullet or his smile (or both), but after years of friendship and a short time of dating, we were married in 1998. We moved from California to the Carolinas in 2010 and we have a grown son, Ronnie (Rex).
I have been in youth ministry for decades and then, in 2014, God surprised me by calling me to coordinate Children’s Ministry. It is a joy to teach elementary kids about God, His Word, His love for them, and His plan to rescue sinners! I also have the honor of helping my husband lead Overflow, our youth ministry for 6th-12th graders.
“Yet this I call to mind and therefore I have hope: Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness.” Lamentations 3:21-23
